When it comes to the simple pleasures in life, little compares to a really good night's sleep. We’re not talking your bog-standard 8-hour kip; we’re talking ‘waking up and feeling like you’ve been asleep for days' kind of sleep. And ersonally, I love to sprawl out.
When I was younger, I always felt like I would be at the epitome of adulthood when I had a huge bed I could starfish in. I wanted the biggest bed available! So, what is the largest UK bed size?
Quick Answer:
- The biggest standard-sized UK bed is a Super King which measures 180 x 200cm or 6’0” x 6’6”.
- The biggest custom-made UK bed size is a Ceasar which measures 245 x 220cm or 8’0” x 7’3”.
How Many Bed Sizes Are There In The UK?
You would think this would be a simple question to answer and, to an extent, it is. It appears there are six standard bed sizes that everyone can agree on. These are:
- Small Single: 75 x 190cm / 2’6” x 6’3”
- Single: 90 x 190cm / 3’0” x 6’3”
- Small Double: 120 x 190cm / 4’0” x 6’3”
- Double: 135 x 190cm / 4’6” x 6’3”
- King: 150 x 200cm / 5’0” x 6’6”
- Super King: 180 x 200cm / 6’0” x 6’6”
So, if we use this as a guide, then it would appear that the Super King is the largest UK bed size. I would usually take this as fact, however, I really want a super huge bed, so I did some more digging.
According to Which? there are an extra three bed sizes. They also include the “euro” size which is a longer length, perfect for the longer-legged out there.
- Euro Single: 90 x 200cm / 3’0” x 6’6”
- Euro Double: 140 x 200cm / 4’9” x 6’6”
- Euro King: 160 x 200cm / 5’3” x 6’6”

How Do I Choose The Right Bed Size For Me?
Okay, now you know what bed sizes are available in the UK, it’s time to decide which is the best size for you and your space. We know you came here looking for the biggest UK bed size, however now you know just how big they can get you might be rethinking whether biggest is really best.
We would say that to have a king-sized bed you want your room to be around 10’ x 10’ or 3.05 x 3.05m. This would give enough space around the bed to not feel too cramped. If you want a super king bed then you would want another couple of feet to accommodate this, around 10’ x 12’ or so.
With the bespoke, made-to-measure extra-large beds you would have to do some serious measuring of your space to make sure you don’t overpower the room and end up with no space for other furniture!
Don’t forget that the mattress size is just that, the size of the actual mattress and not the bed frame. To make sure it’s going to fit how you want it to, double-check the measurements of the bed frame itself.
Where Is The Best Place To Get The Largest UK Bed Size?
Now you’ve decided what size bed you want you’re probably itching to get out there and get one, but where do you start? Even with the age of the internet, there are still lots of bed shops you can go to so you physically see and try the bed before you buy. There are still some classic stores that have clearly stood the test of time such as Dreams, Bensons for Beds and Land of Beds.
As we all know, most things these days have gone digital and there are now hundreds of online stores to order your dream bed from. As we mentioned before, if you’re going for a large bed that isn’t a standard size then you’ll want to check out The Big Bed Company or Natural Bed Company.
If you want a “standard” big bed, then a retailer like Amazon, Wayfair, or Overstock should rustle up some good deals.
